Finding an imprint of solar and climatic cycles in tree rings of European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.)

چکیده
The present study is focused on European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) growth in eastern Bohemia the Broumovské stěny National Nature Reserve, Czech Republic. objective of this research was to develop an evaluation radial relation solar activity (number sunspots), air temperature growing season, annual precipitation and pollution (SO2 depositions). highest positive significant correlation coefficient found between number sunspots, followed by with season. showed a negative SO2 depositions. indicates that sunspots have lower than seasonal during disaster 21st cycle. Radial growth, total season were processed spectral analysis for periodic cycles. 7.5- 11-year cycles observed sunspot Precipitation indicate higher frequency at 3.7-year long-term periodicity influenced both fluctuations growing-season temperature.

Studies on European beech (Fagus sylvatica L
Colour parameters of European beech were measured using CIELab system. 103 logs from 87 trees in 9 sites were cut into boards to study the variations of wood colour parameters. Both site and tree effect on colour were observed. Patterns of red heartwood occurrence were defined. When excepting red heartwood there was still a highly significant effect of site and tree; differences remained after ...
متن کاملModelling individual tree height to crown base of Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karst.) and European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.)
Height to crown base (HCB) of a tree is an important variable often included as a predictor in various forest models that serve as the fundamental tools for decision-making in forestry. We developed spatially explicit and spatially inexplicit mixed-effects HCB models using measurements from a total 19,404 trees of Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karst.) and European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) o...
متن کاملRelationship between Empty Seed and Genetic Factors in European Beech (Fagus sylvatica L.)
The relationship between percentage of empty seed (Pes) and genetic factors was explored in an isolated stand of European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.). Nine allozyme loci (GOT-B, IDH-A, LAP-A, MDH-B, MDH-C, MNR-A, 6-PGDH-A, PGI-B and PGM-A) were used to estimate genetic factors. Pes ranged from 4.8% to 40.9% for seed samples of 91 trees within the stand and showed an approximate normal distributi...
متن کاملPredicting red heartwood formation in beech trees (Fagus sylvatica L.)
Beech-forests (Fagus sylvatica L.) represent the natural vegetation cover for the majority of sites in Germany. Although coniferous forests actually dominate, beech is the most important among the deciduous tree-species in Germany, when considering the area and the economics. While the wood of the younger beech normally shows a whitish colour (white beech), the timber of older beech may form co...
متن کاملResilient Leaf Physiological Response of European Beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) to Summer Drought and Drought Release
Drought is a major environmental constraint to trees, causing severe stress and thus adversely affecting their functional integrity. European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) is a key species in mesic forests that is commonly expected to suffer in a future climate with more intense and frequent droughts. Here, we assessed the seasonal response of leaf physiological characteristics of beech saplings t...
